This is the official MySQL branch, started by MySQL's original founder after the Sun purchase.

MariaDB, a drop-in replacement for MySQL with enhanced features and patches.

Built by core members of the original MySQL team, MariaDB also actively works with the larger community of outside developers to deliver the most featureful, stable, and sanely licensed open SQL server in the industry.

In most respects MariaDB will work exactly as MySQL: all commands, interfaces, libraries and APIs that exist in MySQL also exist in MariaDB.

· Better error messages (all error numbers now include a descriptive text what the number means).
· SHOW EXPLAIN feature.
· Multi source replication — Original code from Taobao.
· Optimized read only transaction (for InnoDB). This includes support for TRANSACTION READ ONLY.
