The previous_post_link() can be replaced with previous_post_smart(), keeping the first two arguments: $format & $title.

Installation:

Unpack and upload it to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress.

Requirements:

· WordPress 3.2.0 or higher
