A template engine reads special mark-up, inserting content into container tags and outputting similar layouts with dynamic content.
Template engines are a regular in static site generators and with any properly written coding framework.
Trenni is such a system, being written in Ruby, parsing Ruby templates and outputting native Ruby code.
