The autoNumeric plugin works by waiting for the user input, taking the entered number and inserting separators or currency characters to improve the number's format readability.

autoNumeric is not restricted to form fields, being capable of automatically formatting regular HTML elements like DIVs, SPANs, numbers in paragraphs, etc..
