The libraries are written in Java, with sprinkles of XML and Python.
Here are some key features of "Apache Whirr":
Whirr provides:
· A cloud-neutral way to run services. The user doesn't have to worry about the idiosyncrasies of each provider.
· A common service API. The details of provisioning are particular to the service.
· Smart defaults for services. The developer can get a properly configured system running quickly, while still being able to override settings as needed.

· Most of the components of the Apache Hadoop stack

· Ganglia

· Voldemort

Services can be deployed to:
· Amazon EC2
· Rackspace Cloud
Limitations:
· Whirr is currently in the Apache Incubator, still in development.
