David Souter to retire from Supreme Court

Reporting from Washington -- Justice David H. Souter, a New Hampshire Republican who became a key liberal vote on the Supreme Court, reportedly plans to retire this summer, clearing the way for President Obama to make his first nomination to the high court.

Since the court has only one woman among its nine justices, most observers have predicted that Obama will select a woman for the first court opening. There is no obvious successor to Souter, and the administration has had just three months to sift through potential nominees.

Souter's retirement is not likely to change the court's ideological balance. He has been a reliable liberal on all of the major issues decided recently, including abortion, civil rights, religion, Guantanamo Bay detention and the death penalty. Obama is expected to appoint a replacement who holds similar views.

The justices are due to meet this morning in their private conference. Souter is expected to disclose his retirement plans to his colleagues then, court sources said.

His pending departure was first reported by NPR, NBC and the Associated Press on Thursday evening. A Supreme Court spokeswoman refused to comment.

Souter's departure would come as no surprise to his colleagues and others who know him well. He has been in good health and, at 69, is not old by the standards of the high court. But he intensely dislikes Washington, has few friends in the capital and leads a solitary life. He has often said that his mood brightens when he goes home to New Hampshire.

Two of his favorite colleagues -- John Paul Stevens, 89, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 76 -- have been the center of retirement speculation. But Souter had not hired law clerks for the fall, leading many to suspect that he planned to step down at the end of the court term in June.

Souter has also voiced frustration with the court's conservative drift of late.

On Wednesday, he sharply questioned a lawyer who wanted the court to strike down part of the historic Voting Rights Act of 1965. Souter said the nation had made progress on civil rights but added that he did not see a radical change that would justify repealing much of the act.

Souter's pending retirement puts another important issue before Obama. The president is a former professor of constitutional law at the University of Chicago and has knowledge of the issues before the court. He also knows many lawyers and judges he could nominate.

Obama chose Elena Kagan, dean of Harvard Law School, to be solicitor general, the administration's lawyer before the court. But she has yet to argue a case.

Judge Diane Wood, an appointee of President Clinton to the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago, is likely to be considered. She has taught at the University of Chicago and knows Obama.

Two other judges who have been mentioned as possible nominees include Sonia Sotomayor of the U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in New York and Kim Wardlaw of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in California.

Liberal activists have high hopes that Obama will appoint a solid liberal. Though Clinton's appointees -- Ginsburg and Stephen G. Breyer -- have voted reliably on the liberal side, neither has been a champion of social justice in the style of Justices William J. Brennan and Thurgood Marshall.

During the campaign, Obama praised Souter as a sensible and reasonable judge who is not an ideologue.

Obama also said he wanted to appoint a justice who had empathy for real people with real problems. He suggested that some of the justices, although academically brilliant, have little understanding of those who struggle in their daily lives.

Some conservative critics countered that the first obligation of the justices is to follow the law, not to decide in favor of certain people or groups.

One intriguing possibility is that Obama will look outside the courts for a nominee. All nine current justices were appeals court judges when they were nominated. None has ever been elected a legislator or governor.

By contrast, the court in the 1950s was led by former California Gov. Earl Warren and had justices who had served in the Senate, as U.S. attorney general and in a variety of other government posts.

Souter will be remembered as one of many justices who turned out entirely different than expected. When nominated by President George H.W. Bush in 1990, he was called a reliable conservative who would vote on the right. John H. Sununu, Bush's chief of staff, referred to him as a "home run for conservatives."

But within two years, it became clear that the White House did not really know its nominee.

In 1992, Souter cast a key vote with Justices Sandra Day O'Connor and Anthony M. Kennedy to preserve Roe vs. Wade and the right to abortion.

And in the years afterward, he voted regularly with the court's liberal bloc.

This week's party switch by Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter -- to become the 57th Democrat in the chamber -- may also give Obama more leeway in his selection.

When Clinton had two vacancies to fill, he chose moderate Democrats partly in deference to Republicans' ability to filibuster a choice they considered extreme.

President George W. Bush also faced the threat of a potential Democratic filibuster if he chose a nominee who was too far to the right.

Minnesota's Al Franken is expected to become the Senate's 58th Democrat once Republican Norm Coleman exhausts his court appeals in that race.

The Senate's two independents caucus with the Democrats, adding up to the 60 votes required to cut off debate and prevent a filibuster.

If Obama can count on 60 votes in the Senate, he will not face a filibuster threat.

Swine Flu Symptoms (and Simple Ways To protect Yourself From Swine Flu)

What are the signs and symptoms of swine flu in people?
The symptoms of swine flu in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu. Like seasonal flu, swine flu may cause a worsening of underlying chronic medical conditions.

How does swine flu spread?
Flu viruses are spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing of people with influenza. Sometimes people may become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose.

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Understandably, US authorities - following the lead of the World Health Organization (WHO) - have declared a "public health emergency."

The virulent new H1N1 swine flu strain spreads quickly and efficiently from human to human. It's "a completely novel virus," says the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). This latest variant is a mixture of human virus, bird virus, and pig viruses from all over the world. Swine flu fears aren't new in the United States. In February 1976, a 19-year-old army private at Fort Dix, New Jersey, died within 24 hours of becoming infected with swine flu. As a result, several hundred people developed Guillain- Barré syndrome, a serious neurological condition, and the immunization program was stopped.

(The flu shot from last fall, for instance, won't combat this strain).

"No single action will provide complete protection," the CDC notes, but taking a few steps can help reduce the likelihood of transmission of swine flu (or many other infections).

1. Sanitize -- i.e. Wash Your Hands Frequently. The CDC estimates that 80 percent of all infections are spread by hands. If you can't wash your hands regularly, try hand-sanitizers with 60 percent alcohol content.

2. Avoid -- i.e. Engage in "Social Distancing." By contrast, 58 percent of people who work from home and 88 per cent of those who walk to work caught a cold last winter).

If you need to go someplace crowded, the CDC says, try to spend as little time as possible and try to stay six feet away from potentially infected people. Swine flu symptoms are similar to regular flu: Fever, body aches, sore throat, cough, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. If you don't feel well, seek medical attention. Swine flu will dominate news headlines in the days ahead.

AP: Mexico health chief optimistic; more US cases

Mexico's top medical officer voiced optimism Thursday that swine flu has slowed in the nation hardest hit by the virus, but the World Health Organization cautioned there is no evidence the worst of the global outbreak is over.

The U.S. caseload rose slightly to 130 as hundreds of schools nationwide shut their doors, and the crisis even reached the White House, which said an aide to the secretary of energy apparently got sick helping arrange a presidential trip to Mexico.

European health ministers vowed to work quickly with drugmakers to rush a vaccine into production, but American health officials suggested inoculations could not begin until fall at the earliest.

Mexican Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova told The Associated Press new cases have leveled off and the death rate has been nearly flat for several days. The health ministry, which earlier said 168 people were believed killed by swine flu in Mexico, on Thursday would only confirm 12 of those deaths and would not say how many were suspected.

The World Health Organization's top flu official, responding to similarly hopeful remarks from other Mexican officials, sounded a more cautious note about whether the virus had peaked.

Mexico has imposed what amounts to a five-day shutdown of the country, beginning Friday, in hopes of slowing the virus. Fukuda said Thursday there were no immediate signs that warranted declaring a Phase 6 pandemic.

Phase 5 means a virus has spread into at least two countries and is causing large outbreaks. The only confirmed U.S. swine flu death so far is a Mexican toddler who succumbed earlier this week in Texas. New cases of swine flu were confirmed Thursday in Europe, but no deaths have been reported outside North America.

In the United States, Vice President Joe Biden stirred concern by saying in an NBC interview that he would discourage family members from flying or even taking the subway because of the swine flu threat.

The White House insisted Biden meant to say he was discouraging nonessential travel to Mexico, and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood was compelled to state flatly: "It is safe to fly. There is no reason to cancel flights."

An aide to Energy Secretary Steven Chu apparently got sick helping arrange President Barack Obama's recent trip to Mexico. The U.S. is taking extraordinary precautions, including shipping millions of doses of anti-flu drugs to states. Scientists cannot predict what a new virus might do, and the outbreak could always resurge later.

"I don't want anybody to have false expectations," Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary Craig Vanderwagen said. In hopes of avoiding confusion, the WHO announced it will stop using the term "swine flu," opting for the bug's scientific name, H1N1 influenza A. Obama administration officials have also pointedly referred to the virus as H1N1 in recent days.

Canada, New Zealand, Britain, Germany, Spain, Israel and Austria also have confirmed cases.

Already, the looming shutdown was being felt in Mexico City. Mexico City's infamous smog dropped to levels normally seen only on holidays.

Cordova told the AP that the extraordinary measures undertaken in Mexico were starting to work. Most of the Mexicans hospitalized with confirmed cases of swine flu have already been released, and he expects the suspected death toll to drop as health officials do further tests.

Swine flu is a mix of pig, bird and human genes to which people have limited natural immunity. It has symptoms nearly identical to regular flu — fever, cough and sore throat — and spreads similarly, through tiny particles in the air, when people cough or sneeze. About 36,000 people die each year of flu in the United States.

Get More Traffic To Your Website By add Text Captions To your images web

Hy all,

Do you wish your website yield more and more money to you?.

Beyond question your answer is yes!.

Ok, now I will share to you of trick to increase traficc to your website so that yield the more money to you.

This is a very simple & non-geeky trick to help you increase much traffic to your website and yield the more money to you.

Websites like BBC or The New York Times always display images and pictures inside a box that is aligned either to the right or left of the web page.

You’ll also notice a 1-2 sentence long text caption just below the photograph containing brief description of the image, copyright information, etc.

There are two advantages of adding image captions in web pages:

1. Stylish and Read Friendly - Your visitors can easily get the context of the image from the small caption without having to read the full story.

2. SEO Friendly - Since captions describe the image in text and are located in close proximity to the image, they could be very effective in getting your images rank well on image search engines.

How to Add Text Captions and Align Images on Web Pages ?

With simple CSS and HTML, you can quickly add text captions to images very similar to BBC or Wikipedia:

Before we get into the code, here’s a snapshot of the end product. The Google logo is aligned to the right of the browser, is enclosed inside a box with borders that also contains a text caption.

css images and text captions

Here’s the HTML+CSS code for the above implementation:

Step 1: Add the following CSS code to an external CSS file or to your blog template under the

section.

Step 2: Now insert the following HTML code anywhere in the web page. The process is exactly the same as inserting regular images but we have just enclosed that inside a

tag.

Google Logo
Image Caption goes here.

In the above example, we add the file google.gif left aligned and the image has dimensions 276×120.

Replace left with right if you want to right align the image box. You’ll also need to modify the style:width of the

tag such it is equal to image width + 2.

You can also fiddle with the CSS to change the font name, size, border colors, background, margins, etc.

HOw to Reduce Impact Flu

With global anxiety spreading even faster than the new swine flu — and a vaccine still months away — health authorities are struggling to reduce the impact of an outbreak that can't be contained by simply shutting borders.

The world has no vaccine to prevent infection but U.S. health officials aim to have a key ingredient for one ready in early May, the big step that vaccine manufacturers are awaiting. "We're working together at 100 miles an hour to get material that will be useful," Dr. Jesse Goodman, who oversees the Food and Drug Administration's swine flu work, told The Associated Press.

The U.S. is shipping to states not only enough anti-flu medication for 11 million people, but also masks, hospital supplies and flu test kits. President Barack Obama asked Congress for $1.5 billion in emergency funds to help build more drug stockpiles and monitor future cases, as well as help international efforts to avoid a full-fledged pandemic.

Cuba and Argentina banned flights to Mexico, where swine flu is suspected of killing more than 150 people and sickening well over 2,000. In a bit of good news, Mexico's health secretary, Jose Cordova, late Tuesday called the death toll there "more or less stable."

Mexico City, one of the world's largest cities, has taken drastic steps to curb the virus' spread, starting with shutting down schools and on Tuesday expanding closures to gyms and swimming pools and even telling restaurants to limit service to takeout. People who venture out tend to wear masks in hopes of protection.

In New York, the city's health commissioner said "many hundreds" of schoolchildren were ill at a school where some students had confirmed cases.

"Border controls do not work. Authorities sought to keep the crisis in context: Flu deaths are common around the world. Using samples of the flu taken from people who fell ill in Mexico and the U.S., scientists are engineering a strain that could trigger the immune system without causing illness. Vaccine manufacturers are just beginning production for next winter's regular influenza vaccine, which protects against three human flu strains. The WHO wants them to stay with that course for now — it won't call for mass production of a swine flu vaccine unless the outbreak worsens globally. But sometimes new flu strains pop up briefly at the end of one flu season and go away only to re-emerge the next fall, and at the very least there should be a vaccine in time for next winter's flu season, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the National Institutes of Health's infectious diseases chief, said Tuesday.

American idol, Artist, adams Lamberts, new artist

The theme on this week's American Idol is songs from the Rat Pack era, and the five remaining contestants are mentored by Jamie Foxx. Anyhoo ...

Kris Allen starts things off with "The Way You Look Tonight," one of my favorite songs from that era. The tune starts off slow, then picks up with a jazzy beat in the middle. Really, really nice.

Kara agrees, saying Kris set the technical standard high for the evening. "You are truly a dark horse in this competition," says Kara. Paula says he's made an amazing transition from boy-next-door to sophisticated gentleman. The song really works for her. The Judges: Randy says she looks like Brittney Murphy and sings like Pink. Kara says she's not nervous for Allison anymore, that she's not just a one-trick pony or rock chick. Paula says it was alluring and tender. Simon thinks she might be in trouble tonight and called the song "mechanical." Jamie Foxx doesn't have much to say during rehearsals, but then calls Matt back into the room for more feedback. The performance starts off slow and picks up steam along the way, with Matt adding some nice runs and power. Not my favorite performance tonight, but nice job.

The Judges: Randy says it's probably one of the hardest songs to sing, and it was a little pitchy. Simon agrees with Paula, saying it's the only believable, authentic song he's heard tonight. Danny Gokey is next, singing "Come Rain or Come Shine." During rehearsals, Jamie Foxx kind of intimidates Danny by looking at him intensely about one inch from his face. Foxx says it's like working with director Michael Mann, whom I'm sure is an intense guy. The performance is good, with Danny wearing these beautifully dorky Mad Men-type, black-rimmed glasses. Great job overall, ending with some power notes.

The Judges: Randy says that Danny is the only singer tonight who could actually put out an album of Rat Pack songs. Kara loved his Rat Pack swagger. Paula calls it "stellar." Simon also loves the swagger and confidence, calling the performance "outstanding."

Adam Lambert sings "Feeling Good." The performance stats with a white-suited Adam descending a pink-lighted staircase. Paula likens him to Michael Phelps in the Olympics. Simon loves the showmanship, especially Adam's entrance on the staircase.

Adam Lambert sings "Feeling Good" to close "American Idol's" Rat Pack night, with a little "rock edge" he says. Jamie Foxx calls it "totally incredible."

Adam comes down a flight of pink stairs in a white suit, stops halfway through to spool out the opening notes. Man, he just looks like a star, all backlit. A very interesting take on the song, is speeding up the tempo at times.

It's another classic Lambert performance -- stalks down the stairs, rock music kicks in, he's getting ready to melt this. Is totally on control on the stage; like KISS running full-tilt into Frank Sinatra. Great last note. Not, again, one of his top three, but still memorable as heck and, as always, interesting.

Randy says a little theatrical, bit too much drama, but in the zone, another good performance. Kara says her mouth is always open when he performs -- "shocking and confusing and sleazy" but she really loves him. Paula says "you're our Michael Phelps." Hmmm ... so he's dating Miss California, too?!

Simon gives him some praise, says you want to win, you want to prove a point every week -- best entrance of the year so far.

Tomorrow: Taylor Hicks and Natalie Cole perform.

Adsense Truth (Adsense Secret Part 2)

Adsense secret, tips make money with adsense, online bussiness with adsense

Really, making money with Adsense has very little to do with Adsense itself.

Since its beginning people have been conditioned into a mindset that Adsense is

in itself a method of making money when really that’s not quite true.

Adsense is a form of monetization that a website can employ but nothing about

Adsense will make you money in its own right. To give an analogy, “making

money” is like a cake that requires many ingredients to be baked. One ingredient

is a website, one ingredient is a form of monetization and one ingredient is traffic

and marketing. None of those ingredients will make you money in their own right,

only when used in conjunction with the other ingredients. The same goes for

Adsense.

Making money with Adsense is really about building websites and driving traffic

via whatever means you know how. The better and faster you can build websites

and drive traffic to them, the more money you will make from Adsense. That

being said, if you want to make money with Adsense or really any method of

money making online you need to learn as many ways as you can to do that.

Plus you need to know the rules of the game.

If traffic driving, website building and monetization are the ingredients to our cake

then the pots and pans we use, the ovens and the utensils are the rules of the

game. They dictate how we put all the ingredients together to make a cake that is

cooked correctly and will taste nice (make money) when we eat it (complete it).

For example, rules of the game are things like HOW we drive traffic to our sites.

Some ways of doing that will be inconsistent and may even get you delisted from

the search engines while some methods will have long term value and will

ensure you stay in the SERPS for longer periods of time. Or how specifically we

build our sites. Some ways of building a site will mean we make more money and

some will mean we make less. Some ad formats will get us less clicks and some

will get us more. So with a combination of ingredients and rules we can develop

a SYSTEM (recipe) for continually making yummy cakes (or profitable sites) on

an ongoing basis.

New England Patriots: A Draft In Review

Patrick Chung, SS, Oregon - With the 34th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots selected Patrick Chung. A big, strong safety with experience at SS, FS, and CB, Chung could be making an impact with the Patriots by week one. On a safety-thin roster playing in the secondary with Brandon Meriweather, the Patriots went with need and most talented at the position here by picking up Chung. With Rodney Harrison possibly out of the mix, Pats fans could see Patrick Chung and Brandon Meriweather roaming the field this season for the Patriots.
Grade: B

Ron Brace, DT, Boston College - Are the Patriots switching to a 4-3?, Are they comfortable playing a 3-4 with the team's current corps of LB?, All these questions came to front when the Patriot selected Boston College defensive tackle, Ron Brace, with the 40th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Playing alongside B.J. Raji, Brace’s numbers may not jump off the stat sheet, but at NT, he’s a true space-filler with an excellent initial push. Brace excels at stuffing the run and bumping backs out of the gap. Grade: C-

Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut - Here’s a pick that was probably expected by just about every Patriots fan on the planet. With Ellis Hobbs traded to the Eagles, Butler could find himself playing quite a bit this season behind Leigh Bodden and Shawn Springs.
Grade: B-

Sebastian Vollmer, OT, Houston - A huge OT at 6’7’’, 312 pounds, this pick has me a bit baffled, but this would begin an infusion of youth along the Patriots' offensive line. I’ve seen him ranked as highly as the seventh to ninth best offensive tackle and within the top 100 talent in this year's draft. But then I’ve also seen him ranked out of the top 10 OT’s and barely cracking the 150 overall talent. Grade: C+

Brandon Tate, WR, North Carolina - With the 83rd overall pick, the Patriots went with the second UNC receiver, Brandon Tate. Grade: B+

Tyrone McKenzie, OLB, South Florida - At 97th overall, McKenzie is my favorite selection this year; just watching his tape and watching him play last season, he seems like a prototypical Patriot. McKenzie finished up last season with 116 tackles and over 350 total tackles in his time as a Bull. Looks like a natural born leader on the field, and could play right away as a SAM linebacker with the Pats. Great value at 97th overall as a LB who was not only ranked within the top 100 overall talent, but can contribute immediately.
Grade: A-

Rich Ohrnberger, OG, Penn State - And the infusion of youth along the O-Line continues, this time with former Nittany Lion, Rich Ohrnberger. Jamon Meredith was still on the board, who projects to be able to play both OT or shift over and play OG, and after watching some tape on Ohrnberger, well, I’m not impressed. I understand trying to restock the offensive line, but I just don’t see the value here.
Grade: D+

George Bussey, OT, Louisville - Another OG who has concerns over his size and strength...great! This pick would officially finish off the Patriots' attempt at retooling the offensive line and thank god, because this pick, along with Ohrnberger, left me scratching my head. Grade: C-

Myron Pryor, DT, Kentucky - Pryor has shown the ability to move from NT to the outside, and after watching the tape on him, I was pleasantly surprised with Myron Pryor. Grade: C+

Julian Edelman, WR/QB/HB, Kent State - Patriots couldn’t get Pat White, so they wait for Julian Edelman to fall to 232nd overall. A spread option QB in college, Edelman’s value ultimately lies as a WR or special teams player at the NFL level. Grade: B-

Darryl Richard, DT, Georgia Tech - And Mr. Irrelevant for the Patriots is (drum roll please)…Darryl Richard out of Georgia Tech! It just brings us back to the question, will the Patriots be playing a 4-3 defense in 2009?
Grade: F

Overall Grade: B-

I'm tempted to give the Patriots a bit lower grade here, but I have to take into account the $2.2 million that comes off the books with the Ellis Hobbs deal. I think we are looking at 5-6 sure-fire players out of this draft that will make the team in Chung, Brace, Tate, Butler, McKenzie, and Vollmer. And knowing the Patriots, don't be shocked to see Julian Edelman make the team's roster.

World health officials race to stem deadly flu

MEXICO CITY – World health officials, racing to extinguish a new flu strain that is jumping borders, raised a global alert to an unprecedented level as the outbreak claimed more lives in Mexico. The U.S. prepared for the worst even as President Barack Obama tried to reassure Americans.

With the swine flu having already spread to at least four other countries, authorities around the globe are like firefighters battling a blaze without knowing how far it extends.

"At this time, containment is not a feasible option," said Keiji Fukuda, assistant director-general of the World Health Organization, which raised its alert level on Monday.

At the White House, a swine flu update was added to Obama's daily intelligence briefing. Obama said the outbreak is "not a cause for alarm," even as the U.S. stepped up checks of people entering the country and warned U.S. citizens to avoid nonessential travel to Mexico.

"We are proceeding as if we are preparatory to a full pandemic," said Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.

The European Union health commissioner suggested that Europeans avoid nonessential travel both to Mexico and parts of the United States. Russia, Hong Kong and Taiwan said they would quarantine visitors showing symptoms of the virus.

Mexico, where the number of deaths believed caused by swine flu rose by a third on Monday to 152, is suspected to be ground zero of the outbreak. But Mexican Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova late Monday said no one knows where the outbreak began, and implied it may have started in the U.S.

"I think it is very risky to say, or want to say, what the point of origin or dissemination of it is, given that there had already been cases reported in southern California and Texas," Cordova told a press conference.

It's still not clear when the first case occurred, making it impossible thus far to determine where the breakout started.

Dr. Nancy Cox of the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said she believes the earliest onset of swine flu in the United States happened on March 28. Cordova said a sample taken from a 4-year-old boy in Mexico's Veracruz state in early April tested positive for swine flu. However, it is not known when the boy, who later recovered, became infected.

The World Health Organization raised the alert level to Phase 4, meaning there is sustained human-to-human transmission of the virus causing outbreaks in at least one country. Monday was the first time it has ever been raised above Phase 3.

Putting an alert at Phases 4 or 5 signals that the virus is becoming increasingly adept at spreading among humans. Phase 6 is for a full-blown pandemic, characterized by outbreaks in at least two regions of the world.

Fifty cases — none fatal and most of them mild — were confirmed in the United States. Worldwide there were 79 confirmed cases, including six in Canada, one in Spain and two in Scotland. Thirteen are suspected in New Zealand, and one is suspected in both France and Israel.

Symptoms include a fever of more than 100, coughing, joint aches, severe headache and, in some cases, vomiting and diarrhea.

Amid the alarm, there was a spot of good news. The number of new cases reported by Mexico's largest government hospitals has been declining the past three days, Cordova said, from 141 on Saturday to 119 on Sunday and 110 Monday.

In a bid to prevent mass contagion, Mexico canceled school nationwide until May 6, and the Mexico City government is considering a complete shutdown, including all public transportation. The Cinco de Mayo parade celebrating Mexico's defeat of a French army on May 5, 1862 and Mexico City's traditional May 1 parade were canceled. More than 100 museums nationwide were closed.

At Mexico City's international airport, families grimly waited for flights out of the capital or country, determined to keep their masks on until they touched ground somewhere else.

Three games involving Mexico City soccer clubs were played with no spectators over the weekend. Decio de Maria, secretary general of the Mexican soccer federation, said plans for future matches would be announced on Wednesday.

"The idea is to look for the fewest number of games that have to be played behind closed doors," he said. "If it's necessary, we'll play all the matches behind closed doors. We don't foresee canceling any games."

Many residents of Mexico City wore blue surgical masks, though the CDC said most masks offer little protection. Many victims have been in their 30s and 40s — not the very old or young who typically succumb to the flu. So far, no deaths from the new virus have been reported outside Mexico.

It could take four to six months before the first batch of vaccines are available, WHO officials said. Some antiflu drugs do work once someone is sick.

Napolitano, the U.S. Homeland Security chief, said Washington is dispatching people and equipment to affected areas and stepping up information-sharing at all levels of government and with other nations.

Richard Besser, the CDC's acting director, said his agency is aggressively looking for evidence of the disease spreading and probing for ways to control and prevent it.

Flu deaths are nothing new in the United States. The CDC estimates that about 36,000 people died of flu-related causes each year, on average, during the 1990s in the United States. But the new flu strain is a combination of pig, bird and human viruses that humans may have no natural immunity to.

Besser said that so far the virus in the United States seems less severe than in Mexico. Only one person has been hospitalized in the U.S.

"I wouldn't be overly reassured by that," Besser told reporters at CDC headquarters in Atlanta, sounding a cautionary note.

The best way to keep the disease from spreading, Besser said, is by taking everyday precautions such as frequent handwashing, covering up coughs and sneezes, and staying away from work or school if not feeling well.

WHO spokesman Peter Cordingley singled out air travel as an easy way the virus could spread, noting that the WHO estimates that up to 500,000 people are on planes at any time.

Governments in Asia — with memories of previous flu outbreaks — were especially cautious. Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines dusted off thermal scanners used in the 2003 SARS crisis and were checking for signs of fever among passengers from North America. South Korea, India and Indonesia also announced screening.

Teams of doctors, nurses and government officials boarded flights arriving in Japan from Mexico, the U.S. and Canada to check passengers for signs of the flu, Japanese Health Ministry official Akimori Mizuguchi said.

European and U.S. markets bounced back from early losses as pharmaceutical stocks were lifted by expectations that health authorities will increase stockpiles of anti-viral drugs. Stocks of airlines, hotels and other travel-related companies posted sharper losses.

In a rough economic time like this one, who couldn't use some extra cash?

There's billions of dollars of unclaimed cash out there.

Welcome to the wonderful little secret called unclaimed property: It could be an old paycheck, stock note, or inheritance that’s owed to you. When no one claims these valuables, they’re eventually turned over to a state— where they may languish for years. On “Dateline,” we showed people who were happy to discover they had forgotten treasure.

Most states don’t have the staff come out and find you. But if it’s there, you can find it on your own.

A lot of people in the U.S. may be rich and not even know it!

"Dateline" is doing a "You Might Be Rich" special series, looking into the millions — even possibly billions — of dollars in old paychecks, inheritance, stock notes and other forms of unclaimed property throughout the states. If no one claims them, the states take them over. wOw told you last month there’s about $33 billion sitting around. That’s a lot of cash!

If you live in New York, you can check for yourself here. There’s also a website, www.missingmoney.com, where you can check. That site comes courtesy of the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators. NBC’s "Dateline’s" Tiki Barber gave one New Orleans woman some of the best news of her life: She was the recipient of $237,000 from a man she met years ago who passed away. The state of Louisiana had been holding on to it for 17 years.

Watch Tiki Barber’s "Dateline" video below, and check out how you can find out if you have a secret unknown stash somewhere.

NASCAR CRASH -SEVEN FANS INJURED

Driver Carl Edwards somehow walked away unhurt after an unbelievable crash during a Nascar race yesterday.

Edwards' car flipped into the air during a corner of the Talldega Superspeedway and looked to be heading into the crowd but the fence at the side of the track held and the car landed back on the circuit.

Eight spectators were injured but track medical director Bobby Lewis said none of the injuries was life-threatening but two women were airlifted to Birmingham hospitals.

He said one likely had a broken jaw and the other was not injured but was taken because of a medical condition.

Edwards was trying to block a move from winner Brad Keselowski, and contact sent his spinning car over Ryan Newman's hood and into the fence near the finish.

The fence held and Edwards' car landed back on the track.

Seven race fans were treated at Talladega Superspeedway for what were described as minor injuries when Carl Edwards' car went airborne and crashed into the protective fence that separates the track from the seating area on the final lap of Sunday's Aaron's 499 Sprint Cup race.

Dr. Bobby Lewis, the track's medical director, described all the injuries as "minor ... not dangerous or life-threatening -- mostly bumps, bruises, contusions and possible fractures." Track officials did not identify the victims, although the two most seriously injured were confirmed as female fans. Both were airlifted from the track to avoid the heavy post-race traffic, with one being taken to UAB Medical Center with facial injuries and a possible broken jaw, and the other to Brookwood Medical Center with what Lewis called an unspecified "medical issue" not related to the incident. Edwards' car then went airborne and hit the fence, while Keselowski drove past for his first Sprint Cup victory. No different than a football player," Keselowski said. "If we would have run all race without a single lap of contact, everyone in the media center would have wrote about how boring of a race it was, and instead we ran one of the best races you could ever watch on TV with full contact the whole time. The retaining fence that caught Edwards' car kept the vehicle from careening into the seating area. Another portion of the fence had to be repaired during a caution period following a 14-car wreck early in the race.

"The retaining fence did its job," NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said. NASCAR crash investigators will examine the major wrecks to determine if any change or improvements to the sport's safety plan should be implemented.

It was the third time in Talladega track history the retaining fence played a role in a major crash here. In 1987, Bobby Allison hit the fence coming out of the tri-oval near the start-finish line in an incident that led to the institution of restrictor plates for superspeedway cars.

How to make 15000$/day from google adsense in 26 steps

How to make money online, Google adsense secret, 15000$/day from adsense, Internet marketing tips,SEO TIPS, Bussines online with adsense

Hy all,

Come back in this blog with me kemalzack.

At this blog you can read any info about bussines online, internet marketing tips, seo tips, bussiness online with adsense, bussines online with paid review, and other ads marketplace such as adbrite, chitika, etc.

Now i will share with you how to make 15.000$/day from google adsense in 26 steps.
The following will build a successful site in 1 years time via Google alone. It can be done faster if you are a real go getter, or everyones favorite: a self starter.

A) Prep Work:

Prep work and begin building content. Yep, long before the domain name is settled on, start putting together notes to build at least a 100 page site. That's just for openers. That's 100 pages of "real content", as opposed to link pages, resource pages, about/copyright/tos...etc fluff pages.

B) Domain name:

Easily brandable. You want "google.com" and not "mykeyword.com". Keyword domains are out - branding and name recognition are in - big time in. The value of keywords in a domain name have never been less to se's. Learn the lesson of "goto.com" becomes "Overture.com" and why they did it. It's one of the powerful gut check calls I've ever seen on the internet. That took resolve and nerve to blow away several years of branding. (that's a whole 'nuther article, but learn the lesson as it applies to all of us).

C) Site Design:

The simpler the better. Rule of thumb: text content should out weight the html content. The pages should validate and be usable in everything from Lynx to leading edge browsers. eg: keep it close to html 3.2 if you can. Spiders are not to the point they really like eating html 4.0 and the mess that it can bring. Stay away from heavy: flash, dom, java, java script. Go external with scripting languages if you must have them - there is little reason to have them that I can see - they will rarely help a site and stand to hurt it greatly due to many factors most people don't appreciate (search engines distaste for js is just one of them).
Arrange the site in a logical manner with directory names hitting the top keywords you wish to hit.
You can also go the other route and just throw everything in root (this is rather controversial, but it's been producing good long term results across many engines).
Don't clutter and don't spam your site with frivolous links like "best viewed" or other counter like junk. Keep it clean and professional to the best of your ability.

Learn the lesson of Google itself - simple is retro cool - simple is what surfers want.

Speed isn't everything, it's almost the only thing. Your site should respond almost instantly to a request. If you get into even 3-4 seconds delay until "something happens" in the browser, you are in long term trouble. That 3-4 seconds response time may vary for site destined to live in other countries than your native one. The site should respond locally within 3-4 seconds (max) to any request. Longer than that, and you'll lose 10% of your audience for every second. That 10% could be the difference between success and not.

D) Page Size:

The smaller the better. Keep it under 15k if you can. The smaller the better. Keep it under 12k if you can. The smaller the better. Keep it under 10k if you can - I trust you are getting the idea here. Over 5k and under 10k. Ya - that bites - it's tough to do, but it works. It works for search engines, and it works for surfers. Although no one knows for sure, and the data is sketchy, it is estimated that 50% (circa jan 2005) of your surfers will be at 56k or even less. This figure will increase dramatically if you target countries outside the US.

E) Content:

Build one page of content and put online per day at 200-500 words. If you aren't sure what you need for content, start with the Overture keyword suggestor and find the core set of keywords for your topic area. Those are your subject starters.

F) Density, position, yada, yada, yada...

Simple, old fashioned, seo from the ground up.
Use the keyword once in title, once in description tag, once in a heading, once in the url, once in bold, once in italic, once high on the page, and hit the density between 5 and 20% (don't fret about it). Use good sentences and speel check it ;-) Spell checking is becoming important as se's are moving to auto correction during searches. There is no longer a reason to look like you can't spell (unless you really are phonetically challenged).

G) Outbound Links:

From every page, link to one or two high ranking sites under that particular keyword. Use your keyword in the link text (this is ultra important for the future).

H) Cross links:

<1>(cross links are links WITHIN the same site)
Link to on topic quality content across your site. If a page is about food, then make sure it links it to the apples and veggies page. Specifically with Google, on topic cross linking is very important for sharing your pr value across your site. You do NOT want an "all star" page that out performs the rest of your site. You want 50 pages that produce 1 referral each a day and do NOT want 1 page that produces 50 referrals a day. If you do find one page that drastically out produces the rest of the site with Google, you need to off load some of that pr value to other pages by cross linking heavily. It's the old share the wealth thing.

I) Put it Online:

Don't go with virtual hosting - go with a stand alone IP.
Make sure the site is "crawlable" by a spider. All pages should be linked to more than one other page on your site, and not more than 2 levels deep from root. Link the topic vertically as much as possible back to root. A menu that is present on every page should link to your sites main "topic index" pages (the doorways and logical navigation system down into real content).
Don't put it online before you have a quality site to put online. It's worse to put a "nothing" site online, than no site at all. You want it flushed out from the start.

Go for a listing in the ODP. If you have the budget, then submit to Looksmart and Yahoo. If you don't have the budget, then try for a freebie on Yahoo (don't hold your breath).

J) Submit:

Submit the root to: Google, Fast, Altavista, WiseNut, (write Teoma), DirectHit, and Hotbot. Now comes the hard part - forget about submissions for the next six months. That's right - submit and forget.

K) Logging and Tracking:

Get a quality logger/tracker that can do justice to inbound referrals based on log files (don't use a lame graphic counter - you need the real deal). If your host doesn't support referrers, then back up and get a new host. You can't run a modern site without full referrals available 24x7x365 in real time.

L) Spiderlings:

Watch for spiders from se's. Make sure those that are crawling the full site, can do so easily. If not, double check your linking system (use standard hrefs) to make sure the spider found it's way throughout the site. Don't fret if it takes two spiderings to get your whole site done by Google or Fast. Other se's are pot luck and doubtful that you will be added at all if not within 6 months.

M) Topic directories:

Almost every keyword sector has an authority hub on it's topic. Go submit within the guidelines.

N) Links:

Look around your keyword sector in Googles version of the ODP. (this is best done AFTER getting an odp listing - or two). Find sites that have links pages or freely exchange links. Simply request a swap. Put a page of on topic, in context links up your self as a collection spot.
Don't freak if you can't get people to swap links - move on. Try to swap links with one fresh site a day. A simple personal email is enough. Stay low key about it and don't worry if site Z won't link with you - they will - eventually they will.

O) Content:

One page of quality content per day. Timely, topical articles are always the best. Try to stay away from to much "bloggin" type personal stuff and look more for "article" topics that a general audience will like. Hone your writing skills and read up on the right style of "web speak" that tends to work with the fast and furious web crowd.

Lots of text breaks - short sentences - lots of dashes - something that reads quickly.

Most web users don't actually read, they scan. This is why it is so important to keep low key pages today. People see a huge overblown page by random, and a portion of them will hit the back button before trying to decipher it. They've got better things to do that waste 15 seconds (a stretch) at understanding your whiz bang flash menu system. Because some big support site can run flashed out motorhead pages, that is no indication that you can. You don't have the pull factor they do.

Use headers, and bold standout text liberally on your pages as logical separators. I call them scanner stoppers where the eye will logically come to rest on the page.

P) Gimmicks:

Stay far away from any "fades of the day" or anything that appears spammy, unethical, or tricky. Plant yourself firmly on the high ground in the middle of the road.

Q) Link backs:

When YOU receive requests for links, check the site out before linking back with them. Check them through Google and their pr value. Look for directory listings. Don't link back to junk just because they asked. Make sure it is a site similar to yours and on topic.

R) Rounding out the offerings:

Use options such as Email-a-friend, forums, and mailing lists to round out your sites offerings. Hit the top forums in your market and read, read, read until your eyes hurt you read so much.
Stay away from "affiliate fades" that insert content on to your site.

S) Beware of Flyer and Brochure Syndrome:

If you have an ecom site or online version of bricks and mortar, be careful not to turn your site into a brochure. These don't work at all. Think about what people want. They aren't coming to your site to view "your content", they are coming to your site looking for "their content". Talk as little about your products and yourself as possible in articles (raise eyebrows...yes, I know).

T) Build one page of content per day:

Head back to the Overture suggestion tool to get ideas for fresh pages.

U) Study those logs:

After 30-60 days you will start to see a few referrals from places you've gotten listed. Look for the keywords people are using. See any bizarre combinations? Why are people using those to find your site? If there is something you have over looked, then build a page around that topic. Retro engineer your site to feed the search engine what it wants.
If your site is about "oranges", but your referrals are all about "orange citrus fruit", then you can get busy building articles around "citrus" and "fruit" instead of the generic "oranges".
The search engines will tell you exactly what they want to be fed - listen closely, there is gold in referral logs, it's just a matter of panning for it.

V) Timely Topics:

Nothing breeds success like success. Stay abreast of developments in your keyword sector. If big site "Z" is coming out with product "A" at the end of the year, then build a page and have it ready in October so that search engines get it by December. eg: go look at all the Xbox and XP sites in Google right now - those are sites that were on the ball last summer.

W) Friends and Family:

Networking is critical to the success of a site. This is where all that time you spend in forums will pay off. pssst: Here's the catch-22 about forums: lurking is almost useless. The value of a forum is in the interaction with your fellow colleagues and cohorts. You learn long term by the interaction - not by just reading.
Networking will pay off in link backs, tips, email exchanges, and in general put you "in the loop" of your keyword sector.
Take Giacomos first post in the other thread mentioned above - he could have lurked, read, made his judgements, learned, and went off to write up his thesis. However, the step forward and the interaction has probably taught him far more about what he is concerned with than if you would have read the forums front to back. In the process he met some people that may in turn be useful resources in the future.

X) Notes, Notes, Notes:

If you build one page per day, you will find that brain storm like inspiration will hit you in the head at some magic point. Whether it is in the shower (dry off first), driving down the road (please pull over), or just parked at your desk, write it down! 10 minutes of work later, you will have forgotten all about that great idea you just had. Write it down, and get detailed about what you are thinking. When the inspirational juices are no longer flowing, come back to those content ideas. It sounds simple, but it's a life saver when the ideas stop coming.

Y) Submission check at six months:

Walk back through your submissions and see if you got listed in all the search engines you submitted to after six months. If not, then resubmit and forget again. Try those freebie directories again too.

Z) Build one page of quality content per day:

Starting to see a theme here? Google loves content, lots of quality content. Broad based over a wide range of keywords. At the end of a years time, you should have around 400 pages of content. That will get you good placement under a wide range of keywords, generate recip links, and overall position your site to stand on it's own two feet.

Do those 26 things, and I guarantee you that in ones years time you will call your site a success. It will be drawing between 500 and 2000 referrals a day from search engines. If you build a good site with an average of 4 to 5 pages per user, you should be in the 10-15k page views per day range in one years time. What you do with that traffic is up to you, but that is more than enough to "do something" with.

Deadly Swine Flu in Mexico

Mexican Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova raised the probable death toll from the new multi-strain swine flu in Mexico to 81, including 20 already confirmed.

"This virus has clearly a pandemic potential," World Health Organization director general, Margaret Chan, said on Saturday.

The Geneva-based UN agency branded the outbreak "a public health emergency of international concern," following a meeting of its emergency committee.

In Mexico, 13 new suspect cases were reported in the past 24 hours and a total of 1,324 patients with flu symptoms were under investigation, Health Minister Cordova said.

The Mexico government has upped emergency measures that were put into place only on Friday.

Officials have canceled hundreds of public events and closed schools for millions of students in and around the capital.

Many Mexico City residents wore freely-distributed surgical masks on the streets Saturday, after authorities urged people to avoid contact in public.

The government also assured citizens it had "sufficient" funds reaching 450 million dollars to combat the epidemic.

Across the northern border, health authorities in the central US state of Kansas confirmed two cases of swine flu on Saturday, bringing the total number of cases in the United States to at least 10.

One of the patients had recently traveled to Mexico.

"Both persons ... became ill with the same unique (H1N1) strain of swine flu that has been identified in Mexico, California and Texas," Kansas officials said in a statement read.

Earlier on Saturday New York officials said eight to nine students at a New York City school were suspected of having swine flu, although test results are still pending.

Meanwhile, a British Airways cabin crew staff member was being treated in a London hospital with "flu-like symptoms" after arriving on a flight from Mexico City, health officials said Saturday.

Asian health officials went on alert and urged the public to be vigilant Sunday.

In New Zealand, a 25-strong school group was quarantined pending the results of medical tests after returning from Mexico with flu-like symptoms, local health authorities said.

In Japan, airports tightened checks on passengers arriving from Mexico, with quarantine officials giving out face masks and using thermography imaging cameras to screen for passengers with a fever.

• Deaths: 86, all in Mexico. 22 confirmed as swine flu, 64 suspected.

• Sickened: 1,384 in Mexico, suspected or confirmed; 20 confirmed in U.S.; 6 confirmed in Canada; 13 suspected in New Zealand; 7 suspected in Spain; 1 suspected in France; 1 suspected in Israel; 1 suspected in Brazil.

• Locations in Mexico: 17 states, including Mexico City, Mexico State, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Baja California and San Luis Potosi. Some, including Oaxaca, Mexico City and Baja California, have tourist areas, but authorities have not said where in these states the outbreaks occurred.

• Locations in U.S.: 8 in New York, 7 in California, 2 in Kansas, 2 in Texas and 1 in Ohio.

Safety measures in Mexico: In Mexico City, surgical masks given to subway passengers, public events canceled, schools and public venues closed and church services postponed. President Felipe Calderon has assumed new powers to isolate infected people. World Bank is providing Mexico with more than $200 million in loans to help with the outbreak.

• Safety measures in U.S: Roughly 12 million doses of Tamiflu being moved from federal stockpile to be delivered to states. Travelers at border asked about travel to flu-stricken areas. St. Francis Preparatory School in New York, where eight cases are confirmed, closed Monday and Tuesday. St. Mel's Catholic School in Fair Oaks, Calif., closed until at least Thursday as officials investigate possible infection of seventh grader.

• Safety measures worldwide: Airports screening travelers from Mexico for flu symptoms. China, Russia and Taiwan plan to put anyone with symptoms under quarantine. Hong Kong and South Korea warn against travel to Mexican City and three provinces. Italy, Poland and Venezuela advised citizens to postpone travel to affected areas of Mexico and the United States. Some countries increasing screening of pigs and pork imports or banning them outright.

Like most governments in the region, Australia urged people who had recently returned from Mexico and had developed flu-like symptoms to seek medical advice.

South Korean health, agriculture and foreign ministry officials held an emergency meeting to discuss the issue, while in China, the health ministry said it was "paying close attention" to the situation.

The CDC said some Mexican victims had died from the same new strain of swine flu that affected eight people in Texas and California.

Dave Daigle, of the CDC, said a bird flu strain, two swine flu strains and a human strain had combined for the first time.
