Admins can mark older posts as deprecated by showing a message at the top of the page.

This generic message can be configured from a special page in the WP backend.

To mark the post as old and show the notification, a special metabox has also been added to the post editing section.

This metabox additionally provides a way to customize the deprecated text message, in case the generic message does not cover all the angles.

Installation:

Unpack and upload it to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress.

Requirements:

· WordPress 3.2.1 or higher
